Linton Academy
The Linton Academy was created to honor university founder William A. Linton for his lofty ideals and life examples. The academy selects candidates who exemplify a compassionate attitude to evangelism, enlightenment, and social welfare to receive the annual Linton Award.
Continuing Education Center
The School of Continuing Education in Hannam University was established to promote an open-education philosophy and to provide educational opportunities for people who want to pursue lifetime learning. It runs through a credit bank system which aims to provide the participants with ways to obtain a bachelor degree by studying on a part-time basis. In addition, the program offers a variety of programs and courses in both practical and professional subjects from basic to advanced levels. Participants can learn and develop practical and professional skills and knowledge required in a society that is constantly changing.
Central Museum
The Central Museum was founded in 1982 with two main purposes in mind: to accumulate and disseminate knowledge; to preserve and exhibit cultural and historical artifacts. The Central Museum houses approximately seven thousand objects in collections that range from archeological artifacts to folklore materials. The museum is divided into five sections: an exhibition hall, Baekje Earthen Vessels hall, Hannam History hall, Folk Customs hall, and History of Christianity and Early Baekje Kiln Restoration hall. As an educational institution the Central Museum offers various opportunities for both informal and more structured public learning in the history of Christianity in Korea. It has also contributed much to the development of the local culture.
Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum was founded on April 18, 1983. The collections in the museum include minerals, fossils, animals, and plants. The museum houses approximately 200,000 items on display. The goal of the Natural History Museum is to offer various opportunities for the public to learn and understand the value of the nature.
Newspaper and Broadcasting
All the university media including the campus paper, radio station, English paper and the yearbook, endeavor to report current events of interest to students. Various media sources assist Hannam University media with invaluable information.
Institute for Laws of Science and Technology
Founded in 1995, the Institute for Laws of Science and Technology in Hannam University is the first of its kind in the nation. The primary function of the institute is the development of laws in relation to science and technology. For the purpose, ILST has advanced research on the laws relating to science and technology through a joint system among legal scholars and scientists and has performed interdisciplinary research combining jurisprudence with science. ILST is doing research on over 200 laws relating to science and technology and continuing research with neighboring research institutes and governmental offices.
Institute for Christian Culture Studies
The Institute for Christian Culture Studies was founded for the purpose of encouraging Christian culture and its conservation. We dedicate ourselves to sharing the positive message of Christian culture with people from all walks of life who may find solace and inspiration in our teachings. In addition, we hope to raise sensitivity and compassion in the community by studying key issues in integration of religion and knowledge as well as forming Christian culture. We plan to execute various kinds of studies, presentations, and events so that we can make an effort to propagate our Christian culture both inside and outside of our Christian school.
Center for Korean Language and Korean Studies (CKLKS)
This center offers a range of courses for foreign students, alien residents, and any other interested party as well as foreign military personnel to learn the Korean language. The courses currently available range from regular, intensive, and special programs to those for educating Koreans to teach Korean to foreign nationals. Any foreign students from a sister college or institution abroad are allowed to take up to twelve credit hours upon completion of a regular program in Korean. In 2005, it was assigned as an official Korean education center by Defense Language Institute of the US Defense Department. In 2006, it was named as a national Korean education center for foreign nationals who immigrated to Korea by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Division of Brain Korea 21
Brain Korea 21 (BK21) Project is supported by the Korean Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development to improve the quality of education and to intensify relations between regional industries and the university.
In order to carry out the mission of BK21, Human Resources Training and Education Center (HuREC) of Hannam University has established partnerships with leading regional industries and local government authorities. BK21 division has launched IT-based course work, internships, short/long-term IT overseas training programs, internationally certified IT and multimedia education, and practical English learning programs.
The three major programs supported by BK21 Division in Hannam University are scholarships, short/long-term overseas training, and individual ability improvement programs.
